Five Years of The Idea Center
On Wednesday, March 6 the IDEA Center at George Fox University (GFU) had a five-year anniversary party. Most of the attendees were current and former employees of the IDEA Center. Five years ago, the IDEA Center was formed in March by combining the academic planning and career services offices under Student Life.

Why Was The Bridge Café Closed?
Due to understaffing, the Bridge Café closed for two weeks last month. They have recently opened back up with modified hours and hope to return to normal hours in the upcoming weeks.
Advocacy Group Stands Up Against Sexual Assault
Among college undergraduate students, 23.1% of females and 5.4% of males experience rape or sexual assault through physical force, violence, or incapacitation, according to the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network. This obviously puts women on college campuses at a much higher risk of sexual assault.

Newberg Christian Church Hosts Foster Parents’ Night Out
On Jan. 26, Foster Parents’ Night Out (FPNO) had its monthly babysitting service for foster families in the area. Because babysitters for foster families must receive background checks and be trained in how to work with foster kids, George Fox University (GFU) partners with Every Child Oregon to train volunteers and run FPNO.
Odd Moe’s Pizza Opens on Highway 99W
I won’t lie. I was a little disappointed to find out that Odd Moe’s Pizza was, in fact, not Mod Pizza, but the disappointment didn’t last long after I took the first bite of a cinnamon dough dunker. Odd Moe’s Pizza, a franchise that began in May of 1999, recently opened on Highway 99W across from the Newberg Chevrolet.
Random Acts of Kindness Week Withdrawn
This past week was intended to be Random Acts of Kindness Week here at George Fox University (GFU). Put on by Student Activities, the purpose of the week was “to promote gestures of gratitude and kindness to peers, faculty and members of the community.”

Lip Sync Success
George Fox University (GFU) students tore down the doors at 8:00 p.m. on November 2 to watch the annual Lip Sync Battle after waiting in line for an hour to fight for the best seats in Bauman Auditorium. Students put together their performances in a few short weeks for a chance to win $500. This year, four impressive acts killed it on stage: The Clock Boys, The Robin Quakers, The Recess and the Pieces and the GFU Women’s Soccer Team.
