What started out as an obscure late-1980s lawn game grew into what most people are now familiar with as a nationally competitive sport, and it is now offered at George Fox University (GFU) under the banner “Spikeball Club.”

Coming next election, the Associated Student Community (ASC) will reconstruct its system. The changes to the structure of ASC will primarily affect the vice president positions.

Since George Fox University’s (GFU) inception, chapel services have always been required. However, there is more to chapel than meets the eye. 

The Plant Services department at George Fox University (GFU) has come under scrutiny by many students for response time to repair problems in student housing areas. However, the department faces obstacles that students do not hear about that make it difficult for every problem to be fixed right away. 

George Fox University’s (GFU) Multicultural Life is a branch of Associated Student Community (ASC) that many students have heard of but few students know much about. This ASC branch focuses on the cultural diversity that can be found in the school.

In 2015, Samuel Wani injured his thumb during football practice at George Fox University (GFU). While he practiced for only two weeks and attended classes for less than one week, it was not until June 2017, according to the Newberg Graphic, that he filed several claims against GFU without an attorney. 

George Fox University (GFU) is building a new dormitory to accommodate the growth of the student population.

“There is nothing set in stone right now,” says the Director of University Housing, Kayin Griffith. The plans for this new dormitory were debuted at Family Weekend (Oct. 27-29). The goal is for the dormitory to be completed in time for the fall semester of 2019 and open for housing selection in the spring semester of 2019. As of now, the dormitory is unnamed.

The restoration of a popular downtown Newberg coffee shop is finally complete: Chapters now has a restored original storefront. This renowned attraction for coffee drinkers and book readers alike has an interesting history, one that starts with one of George Fox University’s (GFU) very own professors.

NEWBERG, ORE. - Through the past several years, the Northwest Yearly Meeting of Friends (NWYM) has struggled with where to stand on LGBT issues, which has led to the formation of a new yearly meeting—the Sierra-Cascades Yearly Meeting of Friends (SCYM).

NEWBERG, ORE. - George Fox University (GFU) students can anticipate the arrival of a new food truck block in downtown Newberg which is to be completed in the next month or two. The new pod of food trucks will be located on 1st St., near the 99W commuter parking lot. There are currently only two trucks on the property, to be joined by at least six more in the near future.
