In the spring 2022, George Fox University (GFU) announced its newest construction project in a series of campus improvement projects. The largest undertaking was the construction of a new chapel which did not begin until summer 2023. According to Shawn Daley, chief strategy and business development officer for the Office of the President, the chapel is set to be complete and fully operational by October 2024. 

George Fox University’s (GFU) homecoming weekend was filled with celebration, nostalgia, and the hope of a successful Bruin football game. Unfortunately, the game took a turn for the worse in the fourth quarter, with the Bruins losing to the Lewis and Clark Pioneers by six points in overtime.

     Steve Sherwood, founder of Table 14, noted that a key aspect of the conference was open conversation on the intersectionality of two identities: Queer and Christian. 

On Jan 16, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr (MLK) holiday,  27 George Fox University (GFU) staff and students headed to Portland, Oregon to spend the day doing service.

   “We have Christ’s purposes around this; in that sense, we’re connected to Dr. King’s faith and his Christ-compelled mission,” said Rusty St. Cyr, university pastor. 

With the recent decision by George Fox University (GFU) to require students to use multi-factor authentication (MFA), students are now required to enter an additional password or accept a notification sent by OktaVerify when signing on to school related sites like Canvas and MyGeorgeFox.

On Wednesday, it was announced that George Fox University (GFU) had bought The Coffee Cottage, a popular local café on Hancock Street. The business officially changed ownership and will cease normal operations on Jan. 31. The announcement came as a surprise to the business’s employees, the Newberg community, and the GFU student body.
