Bruins vs. Foxes: A Recap
Freshman Evie Daniels participated in the game, saying, “Bruins vs. Foxes was a school-wide game where Bruins wore bandannas on their arms or legs and foxes wore them on their heads. The fox’s goal was to tag as many Bruins as possible, and the Bruin’s goal was to survive as long as possible.”
Students Participate in Regional KCA Theater College Festival
A group of 23 George Fox University (GFU) theater students traveled to Colorado State University to compete in the Kennedy Center American Theater College Festival (KCATCF) from Feb. 16-22. After a week of showcases, workshops, symposiums, and scholarship-based competitions, the GFU team emerged with several awards, and a renewed sense of confidence and inspiration for upcoming endeavors.
The Private University and the Impact of Budget Cuts
The closing of Concordia University in Portland, Ore., came as a surprise. According to an Inside Higher Ed article, students as well as shareholders were blindsided by the sudden closure announcement. Some worry it’s a herald of difficult times for private, liberal arts universities.
Brief: Card Lock Changes
When students came back from Christmas break, they were greeted by some changes to the card lock system on campus. All students were able to get access to each residence hall’s common area at all times. Additionally, individual halls in dorms were locked 24 hours a day, instead of just past floor hours.
Bruin Men Return for Conference Win
Tacoma, Wash.- On Nov. 2, George Fox University’s (GFU) cross country team returned for a chance at the Northwest Conference championship after a tie with Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) last year. The Bruins defended their conference title with a landslide victory over the Northwest Conference.
