Alyssa Gonzalez and Madie Sorensen at George Fox University (GFU) were named Northwest Women’s Conference (NWC) Softball Position and Pitching Student-Athlete of the Week, respectively. This is the first NWC honor for Gonzalez and the third for Sorensen. Their plays were critical in helping the Bruins win five out of six games in the start of their season in February of this year.

Newberg’s popular bookstore and coffee shop, Chapters, is hosting an event so that musicians of all ranges can perform and talk about their music writing process. “Tuesday Night Music Club” is a night full of acoustic guitars, insight and coffee.

George Fox University’s (GFU) women’s basketball coach Michael Meek is the fastest coach in university history to reach 200 victories, with Meek about to enter his eighth season as head coach. But if you were to ask him about it, he gives all the credit to his players and his coaching staff. 

In order to finance a $3.1 million upgrade in the public safety communications system, the Newberg city council is considering selling the Newberg Animal Shelter (NAS). 

Members of the LBGTQ community on the George Fox University (GFU) campus came together Feb. 9 to demonstrate on the Quad. They provided examples of discrimination on campus, but emphasized that they were not there in response to any particular event or issue.

The issue of affordable housing affects George Fox University (GFU) students as much as the citizens of Newberg, Ore. “The availability of affordable housing in Newberg is a long-term concern of the planning commission and the city council,” says Phil Smith, a member of the 2018 planning commission and professor of philosophy at GFU.

But the leaders of the George Fox University (GFU) men’s tennis team can confidently say that you will not be disappointed if you attend a match this year! “[Tennis matches are] the most fun sporting events at Fox by a clear mile,” said senior Nick Ekern. 

New plant house Uflora will be opening soon in downtown Newberg in order to provide floral service and design to the area. Uflora will provide a welcoming environment that includes a retail space, a workshop area and a floral design service for weddings and events, as well as floral subscriptions.

With an impressive record and many fabulous plays, Mason Green-Richards has done more than enough to show his dedication to basketball at George Fox University (GFU).
