NEWBERG, Ore – The Seattle Seahawks skipped a rebuilding phase and shocked the entire National Football League (NFL) by heading straight to the Super Bowl and winning it all, a move that excited sports fans all over the Pacific Northwest.

With the installation of a new offensive coordinator, quarterback, wide receiver, defensive end and left guard all at the beginning of the 2025-2026 season, Seahawks fans couldn’t have imagined seeing their team hoist the Lombardi Trophy on February 8th.

In the weeks leading up to their victory over the New England Patriots, fans around George Fox University (GFU) sported Seahawks jerseys of all kinds. Seahawks players, Kenneth Walker, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Riq Woolen and Steve Largent, were represented on campus when the Seahawks won their conference and divisional championships.

As the Seahawks took revenge on the Patriots for their 2015 interception-at-the-goal line win in Super Bowl XLIX, GFU Seahawks fans gathered around campus to celebrate the end of an eleven year league championship drought. One resident advisor, freshman student Ryan Brulotte, threw a massive Super Bowl party for his dorm, Pennington floor two.

“There were chips, root beer floats and brownies. 25 people came down to the lobby and watched the game,” said Brulotte. “I’m very grateful to have seen the Seahawks win their two Super Bowls. Niners fans our age can’t say that.”

Sophomore Andrew Fiedler, normally a Packers fan but a Seahawks Super Bowl supporter, recalls his reaction to watching Seattle win. “I personally thought the game would be much closer but I’m glad the Seahawks won it. They’re primed to run it back for next season.”

With their 2026 Super Bowl victory, the Seahawks broke an 11 year streak of not even going to the Super Bowl. Fans throughout the land rejoiced, especially GFU students, who threw parties and cheered Seattle on even if it wasn’t their own team.
