In Spring 2022, George Fox University (GFU) created and opened an eSports arena for their competitive team and intramural tournaments. According to the GFU Athletics website, the “nearly-2,000-square foot, state-of-the-art facility” is to take an already popular, on-campus sport and “bring it out of the shadows.”  On top of competing in League of Legends and Rocket League, they added Valorant, Overwatch, Apex Legends, and Super Smash Brothers to their schedule last semester, according to GFU Athletics.

With the holidays soon approaching, we asked professors around George Fox University (GFU) what their holiday traditions are.

The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is a national organization founded in 1950 and has now amassed 40,000 members nationwide. George Fox University’s (GFU) SWE chapter Vice President, Meghan Clausen, said that, at its core, the club is about “empowering women and minorities in general and building connections.”

Studies show that as many as 70% of women battle feelings of intimidation when going to the gym, or feel they are not qualified to be there. This experience is especially prevalent in women aged 18-24. “Many women here feel intimidated to go to Hadlock,” said Jennie Ly, president of the Uplift Fitness Club. At the core, this was the motivation behind the club’s creation: to fulfill the “Be Known” promise by helping women feel more comfortable in the University’s gym.

Brady Pfeiffer is among the many entrepreneurs on the George Fox University (GFU) campus that turned his hobby into a business. His leather goods business, North of Zion, began during COVID-19 shut downs, which left him with ample time to explore the world of leather-working.

The Bruin's soccer team is undefeated through this season’s first eight games and are proving to be a legitimate contender for the conference title. Senior Maggie Phillips has been the standout player for the Bruins, but she and Head Coach Laura Schott also recognize several other factors to the team's success.
