Enjoying the Student Art Exhibition
From Jan. 24 to Feb. 18, the Design and Communication Department at George Fox University (GFU) hosted the annual Student Art Exhibits in the Lindgren Gallery. Crescent reporters Isaac Brown and Elijah Dapkus visited both exhibits. They chose some of their favorite pieces to reflect on and review.
"Godspell": The Gospel Retold
To kick off this new semester, the George Fox University (GFU) Theater Department is putting on the musical “Godspell.” Rhett Luedtke, professor of theater and co-chair of the department of fine arts, worked in conjunction with Danielle Warner, associate professor of music and choral director, to direct the play and the music respectively.

Recently, Katie Hummer was waiting for lunch at Canyon Commons and noticed a peculiar illustration of a fox among other historical George Fox University (GFU) facts. “I was reading it [and thought] this guy is adorable,” she said. The illustration in question was one of “Foxy George,” a little fox dressed in “Quaker” attire.
GFU Theatre Department Wins Seven Regional Awards
George Fox University (GFU) theatre students amassed a more than modest set of wins at the annual Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) this year, with four students receiving seven awards in the region.
Student Play, Hakugame, Offers Hope for The Arts

On Oct. 27, David Johnstone, the associate dean of students and director of Commuter Life at George Fox University (GFU), sent an email to commuters expressing concern over a sign installation outside Stevens, which voiced discontent with Commuter Life’s treatment of commuters in 2020. Johnstone asked for the signmakers to reveal themselves, stating he would “love to visit with the signmakers.”
