Emotional Support Animals in University Housing
You may notice a few furry-footed residents on campus these days. While fish are the only pet generally allowed on campus, some students have other animals living with them as Emotional Support Animals (ESAs). Students with these animals have received special permission from the Disability Service Office (DSO) to have their support animal in on-campus housing for the mental and physical health benefits they provide.
The Dating Game
Deep in the thralls of “ring by spring” season, one of George Fox University’s (GFU) highly anticipated events takes place annually: “The Dating Game.” In an ABC network’s “The Bachelor/The Bachelorette” style show, GFU’s Associated Student Community (ASC) gathers single students looking for romance and, in one time-sensitive and intense evening, allows them to vie for their bachelor and bachelorette’s affection.
Life in Quarantine: Preventing the Spread of COVID-19
We wear masks, stand six feet apart, and apply hand sanitizer more liberally than we probably have in our whole lives. Of course, this is all in a unified effort to curb the spread of the coronavirus on campus, protecting both ourselves and our peers. But what happens when a student does catch COVID-19, despite the precautions?
Fall Activities
Despite being limited by COVID-19, George Fox University (GFU) continues to persevere and plan fall activities for students to participate in. Throughout the first few months of the semester, GFU has held several events, like a showing of “Mulan”, a virtual trivia game and an escape room, according to the Events and Activities webpage.

The Spacious Place Podcast with Kari Levang
“The Spacious Place” reached #29 in the Top Charts on Apple Podcasts since we have been in quarantine. It is hosted by Seattle-native Kari Levang. While this project has been months in the making, the podcast itself only went live at the beginning of 2020. I interviewed Levang to hear how she did it, how this pandemic has affected the process, and so you could get to know her.

Easter in Quarantine
On April 12, Easter came upon families once again. The difference, of course, was the social-distancing rule set forth by the US government. As students are in Oregon, Washington and beyond, each state’s regulations are different on the subject of social distancing. Nevertheless, Christians around the world were faced with the challenge of celebrating Easter Sunday away from their churches.
