Spritz cookies are not very common; you don't see them in bakeries or stores. They come from an older tradition. Spritz cookies come in all different shapes; they can be shaped like snowflakes, poinsettias, ornaments, Christmas trees, you name it. They decorate a cookie plate beautifully. 

The George Fox University (GFU) men’s basketball team has started the season 2-6, with several close losses (and some that weren’t so close). The team is better than their record might suggest if you use the eye test, but there are also a few problems that could explain their slow start.

George Fox University (GFU) requires every student who has not reached senior status to get 15 chapel credits each semester. This year, GFU made a new policy requiring ten of those 15 credits to be earned by attending an in-person chapel service. If a student does not get the required amount of chapel credits, they are required to pay 20 dollars per each credit missed. This has turned into a fairly controversial policy, and can be problematic for students who are juggling going to school full-time and have a job. It can also be difficult for students who are commuting to campus from home. Additionally, some students don’t identify as Christians, and would prefer not attend chapel services.

In the spring of 2022, George Fox University (GFU) announced the upcoming plans for the renovation of its Newberg campus. While the logistics and ideas are still in flux, the plan includes measures to improve the flow of campus and make it better for students and faculty. Part of this new campus concept is an upcoming chapel which will include a sanctuary, prayer chapel, library, and courtyard.

Bon Appetit is the estranged step-cousin that the George Fox University (GFU) family loves wholeheartedly but whose life choices are, at times, somewhat questionable. I wish it were different, but that is the way it is. Bon Appetit uses an app called GET Mobile. The GET app promises that we can order and pick up lunch straight from Canyon Commons, which sounds impressive. However, using the app limits you to four options, none of which are what is actually for lunch that day. This limitation frustrates many of GFU’s students.

Donald Glover (AKA: Childish Gambino) is a successful actor, director, writer, producer, comedian, and musician. He has received Grammy’s and Emmy’s, and his most recent project is the release of the third season of his dark comedy-drama show, “Atlanta.”

On April 16, 2022, George Fox University (GFU) held a Make-Up prom in an effort to make up for the proms that many freshman and sophomores did not get to have due to Covid. This prom was hosted at the Portland art museum.

After the abnormal three day weekends of our Spring Break last year, we finally get a normal week off! For Mar. 21-25, students will have a week off to visit family or stay on campus and hangout with friends. The cause for celebration was short-lived, however, as those who want to stay on campus are not allowed to (if they do not meet certain criteria). As if the $7,200+ students pay every year for university housing is not enough, George Fox University (GFU) is charging students $100 a week to stay in university housing over Spring Break.
