On Sept. 22 and Nov. 10, UNI Worship nights were held at Red Hills Church. This high-energy community of quality music is unaffiliated with any church or with George Fox University (GFU), but it is offered for any college-age student who wants to be involved in worship at any level.

Fall is a season of festivity and cheer, and Portland takes advantage of the fun by providing a variety of activities and events. Unfortunately, many college students — including those at George Fox University (GFU) — deal with financial hardship and can’t afford to splurge on fall outings.

If you are a student at George Fox University (GFU), there’s a chance you’ve had one too many conversations about your strengths.

The first Doubters’ Town Hall was held in Hoover 105 on Oct 14. Dr. Isaac Choi and Dr. Ross McCullough presented four arguments for the existence of God, followed by an interactive question and answer session. Students brought doubts and ideas, and they walked away with more questions and new ideas.

Science and religion are two topics that are often viewed as opposing—can they exist in harmony together or are they too different? The Science and Religion Club, led by senior Greg Conan, exists on-campus to hopefully find an answer to this question by encouraging students to engage in a supportive environment where they are free to express their thoughts and opinions.

The Family Weekend Fall Showcase took place on Oct. 19 in George Fox University’s (GFU) Bauman Auditorium. Among the groups performing were Symphonic Band, Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Concert Choir, Women’s Chorale and Chamber Singers.

Adam Long, the new assistant professor of Art and Design at George Fox University (GFU) specializing in photography, and he’s still moving in. Cardboard boxes full of art books and camera equipment sit stacked in every corner of his office, and soft ‘rainy-day’ rock plays from the radio sitting on his desk.

Need a laugh? The fall comedy is showing on Oct. 18-20, 25-27 and 28 in Wood-Mar Auditorium. The Thursday performances are free to George Fox University (GFU) students. Greg Lutze, co-founder of (VSCO) VSCO and George Fox University (GFU) alum spoke to students on Oct. 5 as part of the School of Business’ Industry Insiders events, imparting wisdom on the community that he attributes so much of his success to.

The George Fox University Art Department embarked on its annual Art Retreat on Friday. The retreat, which took place at the SeaKrest Lodge and spanned over a weekend, was a time for artists to bond, learn, and create.
